Dominican Republic has many things to offer if you have time to spend besides being in the shipyard. Near the shipyard you can find the Colonial Zone, which is considered the first city in the new world. This historic place has buildings and infrastructures of the 14th -15th century including the Cathedral, first in America, Diego Colon’s house, the Fortaleza Ozama, among others. In this area you can find stores, museums, restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. Also nearby you can find the Malecon, which is a walkway parallel to the Caribbean sea. You can also find beautiful beaches, mountains, rivers etc.

Dominican Republic has many international airports. The closest and most convenient for getting to the shipyard would be the Las Americas airport (SDQ) which is located about 40 Kilometers (30 min drive) from the city of Santo Domingo.
